Juried Photography Exhibition

Perspective Gallery is looking forward to receiving entries from students for the sixth annual juried exhibition of Chicago area high school photography. All subject matter and photographic processes are welcome.

Juror: Glenn Hansen
Glenn Hansen has been photographing for over 40 years. After graduating from the Institute of Design, he created a professional career of documentary photography and teaching. Glenn worked with David Plowden as his darkroom assistant, digital photographic consultant, and archivist from 1979 to the present. He has taught photography since 1982 and is Professor of Photography at College of DuPage, where he co-chaired the department for many years. Glenn’s photographs are primarily large format black and white images with projects spanning the urban spaces though suburban/rural transitional zones to the high plains of the western United States.  In 2006, he founded the ongoing West Chicago Documentary Project that began with a summer class of students. Glenn’s current photographic images are digitally captured with view camera aesthetics always being evident. He is a frequent invitee to the Adobe Educator Summit, where 20 professors receive insight to and provide feedback on Adobe’s latest imaging software. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and the Society for Photographic Education (SPE). Glenn’s work has been frequently exhibited and is represented in numerous collections.

Entry fee: No fee required

Submissions: Artists are invited to submit up to three (3) photographs via e-mail. Images should be formatted as follows: sRGB; 72dpi; sized between 1,000 and 1,500 pixels on the longest side; flattened, jpg format; Each image should be identified as follows: Last name_image Title. The e-mail must include the following: Full name, School, Teacher, phone and address (for sales commissions).

Delivery of work accepted to appear in the show: All work must be framed or mounted with hanging wire (no sawtooth hangers). Scholarships may be available to assist with framing costs with a recommendation from a teacher/counselor. From 4/27 – 4/30, during normal gallery hours, artist may hand deliver their work to Perspective Gallery, which is located at 1310 1/2B Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL. Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday, 12-6, and Sunday, 12-5.
